Tata Motors Announces Price Cuts of Up to ₹1.55 Lakh After GST Reduction

Big savings on Tata cars after GST 2.0. Nexon cheaper by ₹1.55 lakh, Safari by ₹1.45 lakh, Harrier by ₹1.40 lakh, Altroz by ₹1.10 lakh. Effective September 22, 2025.

Tata Motors has officially revised the prices of its passenger vehicles following the government’s new GST reforms, which lower tax slabs on cars and SUVs. The updated prices will take effect from September 22, 2025, and customers will receive the full benefit of this tax cut across Tata’s entire lineup.

Tata Motors Big Savings Across the Portfolio

The Nexon emerges as the biggest gainer, with prices slashed by up to ₹1.55 lakh. Premium SUVs like the Safari and Harrier also enjoy significant drops of ₹1.45 lakh and ₹1.40 lakh respectively. Among hatchbacks, the Altroz is now cheaper by up to ₹1.10 lakh.

Compact and entry-level models aren’t left behind. The Tiago hatchback will see a reduction of ₹75,000, while the Tigor sedan gets a price drop of ₹80,000. The hugely popular Punch micro SUV becomes more affordable by ₹85,000, and the recently launched Curvv also gets a cut of ₹65,000.

Tata’s Statement

According to Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, the GST reduction is a “progressive reform” that makes personal mobility more accessible. He assured that Tata Motors would pass the entire tax benefit to customers without any markups.

Perfect Timing Ahead of Festive Season

The timing couldn’t be better. With the festive season already underway, Tata expects a sharp rise in bookings. Customers have been encouraged to book early to avoid longer waiting periods once demand picks up under the revised pricing.

A Boost for Tata’s Market Strategy

This move strengthens Tata’s position across both entry-level and premium segments, enhancing the brand’s value-for-money appeal. The GST cut not only makes Tata cars more attractive but also improves the brand’s competitive edge in India’s crowded automotive market.

Impact of GST 2.0 on Cars

The government’s revised GST 2.0 structure reduces tax rates for smaller cars and hybrids. Vehicles under 4 metres in length and with engines up to 1500cc—whether petrol, diesel, LPG, CNG, or hybrid—will now attract 18% GST, down from the earlier 28% slab. For customers, this means lower prices and better affordability across multiple categories.
