Hybrid Cars See Strong Growth in Q1 FY2026: Maruti, Toyota & Honda Lead the Way

Hybrid cars are constantly gaining momentum in India as the options for growing locally produced models. In the first quarter of FY2026, these partially electrified the cars of concrete growth, which indicated a continuous increase in consumer acceptance in our market.

Three car manufacturers produce hybrid cars in India, which offers practical electrification techniques for a permanent value yet: Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), Maruti Suzuki and Honda. Toyota is the main mark when it comes to hybrid cars globally, and even in India it ranks number one.

TKM sold 21,489 hybrid cars in Q1 FY2026, which led to 81% market share in the category. Compared to 10 745 units distributed during the same period of the previous financial year, it recorded an impressive growth of 100% or 10 744 units to be specific. The company offers two locally produced hybrid cars – Urban Cruiser Hirr and Innova Hycross – and two imported -camary (CKD) and Welfire (CBU)

While TKM almost doubled the sale of hybrid cars in the first quarter of the current financial year, Maruti Suzuki saw a two -time increase and captured 18% market share. The company sent 4,745 units compared to April 2025-June 2025 period, 3,438 units or 263% Q1 FY2025. It offers only two hybrid cars, produced by both TKM –s: Urban Cruiser Hyrides and Invito.

In the third position it was Honda, who only has a hybrid car in the showroom, namely the city E: Raising. While the company produces a hybrid sedan in India, the location level is very low, making the car quite expensive than the usual city and is out of access to most Indians.
