State Bank of India (SBI) has just kicked off the application process for the Junior Associate (aka SBI Clerk) positions. They’re looking to fill a whopping 6,589 vacancies — both regular openings and backlog seats. So if you’ve been thinking about a career in banking, this might be your moment!

Quick heads-up: The last day to apply is August 26, so don’t wait too long to get your application in.
Who can apply SBI Clerk 2026?
- Age: You should be between 20 and 28 years old as of April 1, 2025. (Basically, born between April 2, 1997, and April 1, 2005.)
- If you’re from a reserved category, there’s some relaxation in the age limit — check the rules for details.
- Education: You need a graduation degree in any field from a recognized university. Got an integrated dual degree? Just make sure you’ll finish by December 31, 2025.
- Still in your final year or semester? No worries! You can apply provisionally, but if you get selected, you’ll have to prove you graduated by the end of 2025.
How’s the selection process?
It’s a three-step deal:
- Preliminary Exam – This is an online test with 100 multiple-choice questions. You’ll get 1 hour to complete it.
- Main Exam – A bit longer and tougher, with 190 questions in 2 hours and 40 minutes.
- Local Language Proficiency Test – If you didn’t study your local language in 10th or 12th grade, you’ll have to take this extra test after the Mains. It’s 20 marks and tests your language skills.
What about fees?
- If you’re applying under General, OBC, or EWS categories, the application fee is ₹750.
- No fees if you’re from SC, ST, PwBD, XS, or DXS categories.
