Hyundai sold over 43,000 units in India in July 2025, with SUVs contributing nearly 72% of total sales. Strong demand for models like Creta and Venue boosted performance.
Similar to Tata Motors, Hyundai had a minor decline in sales in July 2025. Last month, the company celebrated the Creta’s tenth anniversary, but even that momentous occasion did not save it. According to Hyundai, it sold 43,973 automobiles in India in July 2025, much above the 39,521 cars that Tata Motors, a close competitor, delivered in the same month. Its monthly sales decreased by 5,040 units, or 10%, from July 2024.
From the locally produced Exter in the global A-segment to the locally built Ioniq 5 in the global D-segment, the South Korean carmaker offers a wide range of SUVs in India. It claims that these high-riding models accounted for 71.8% of its sales in our market last month. This indicates that more over 31,500 of the 43,973 units were made up of the Exter, Venue, Creta, Alcazar, Tucson, and Ioniq 5 combined.
In India, the Hyundai Creta in particular has been performing incredibly well. This model was introduced in July 2015 and has sold more than 1.2 million units overall. Hyundai’s best-selling model in our market is the Creta, which now tops its segment.
In July 2025, Hyundai began exporting, sending 16,100 automobiles manufactured in India abroad. This represented a slight increase of 550 vehicles, or 4%, from July 2024, when it shipped 15,550 cars.
In July 2025, Hyundai delivered 60,073 automobiles to India, including both domestic sales and export exports. In contrast, the company recorded 64,563 units sold in July 2024, indicating a 4,490 unit, or 7%, year-over-year drop in sales last month. The upcoming holiday season will probably be considerably better for Hyundai in the coming months.
