The Delhi government has taken a big step to stop the arbitrary fees of private unaided schools in Delhi. On Friday, August 8, the ‘Transparency in Delhi School Education Fee Determination and Regulation Bill, 2025’ was passed in the Delhi Assembly. This law will apply to all recognized private schools in Delhi. This bill was passed after a long debate of four hours.
School Fee Regulation Bill 2025: This is the first major law of the BJP government which came to power in February this year. In the assembly, 41 BJP MLAs voted in its favour, while 17 AAP MLAs opposed it. Some MLAs of both the parties were also absent during the voting.
Government said – Parents will get big relief – School Fee Regulation Bill
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta called this law a big relief for parents. She said that the increasing fees of schools every year has put a heavy burden on the pockets of parents. This law will reduce that burden.

Education Minister Ashish Sood said that now no private school will be able to increase fees without the approval of the government. They will also have to make public the details of every fee hike. This will increase transparency and stop the arbitrariness of schools.
Opposition called it against parents
AAP leader Atishi called this bill incomplete and weak. She said that the BJP has only pretended to remove the concerns of the parents. According to her, this law lacks many important provisions, due to which fee control will not be completely possible.
AAP MLAs proposed 8 amendments in the House, in which there was a demand to make the process of fee determination more transparent. But the House rejected all the amendments. Atishi said that the BJP had earlier made fun of similar provisions, now it is backing out from implementing the same things.
